When you start rapid reading text, RapidReader switches from ParagraphView to TurboView. This view displays the text for reading, provides indications of document markup, and enables various key tasks to be performed.
Parts of the UI
The Text Field
This is where the text you've opened in RapidReader is displayed for reading.
These provide an indication of the presence of User Notes and Dog-ears in your text. A marker is first displayed when the word where the markup was added is reached. The Marker then remains displayed until the next User Note or Dog-ear is encountered, when the Marker for that markup is displayed.
The TurboView toolbar enables you to easily undertake a number of key tasks.
- go back to the start of a paragraph, go back a sentence, stop and return to ParagraphView, continue reading, and jump forward to the next paragraph.
- increase or decrease the reading speed.
- add User Notes.
- add Dog-ears.
- activate the highlight mode in ParagraphView.
- save the text as a RapidReader (.r2d) file.
- open RapidReader help.
You can also accomplish these and some other tasks using the TurboView Keyboard Shortcuts.
The Statusbar displays the reading speed, the current page number, and your progress through the text. By default, the Statusbar is hidden while you're RapidReading until you move the mouse. It can be set to always be visible from the ParagraphView Options menu item Always Show TurboView Info Controls.
